One Epic Adventure: 5 States, 2 Countries, and Endless Memories

Where to start? This trip felt like five holidays in oneĀ  a whirlwind of sunrises, road trips, beach days, and belly laughs. On a Sunday in February, Lynnette and I boarded a flight to Texas, USA, and began what would be a 17-day adventure across the States, wrapping it all up with 5 relaxing days in the Bahamas visiting a friend.

The Stats Behind the Journey

When you break it down, here’s what we packed into 23 days (yes, including travel!):
  • 14 different locations
  • 10 hotels
  • 6 beautiful beaches
  • 5 statesĀ (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, and briefly Alabama)
  • 2 countries
  • 0 argumentsĀ (okay… one minor incident with a New Orleans pavement!)

The Bucket List Moments

From cities to remote getaways, dive bars to fine wines, here’s just a taste of what we experienced:
āœ… Watched sunrises andĀ sunsets
āœ… Collected beach treasures
āœ… Swam with turtles (and yes — one gave me a cheeky toe nibble 🐢)
āœ… Rode horses on a Texas ranch
āœ… Came close to alligators (from a safe distance!)
āœ… Partied through Mardi Gras
āœ… Drank our fair share of tequila
āœ… Explored vibrant street art (including @thelondonpolice’s work)
āœ… Took a duck tour andĀ a cemetery tour — talk about contrast
āœ… Ate everything from Texas BBQ to Florida seafood
āœ… Sang badly (but passionately) during long drives
āœ… Visited both bustling cities and total backroad gems
āœ… Spent hours listening to live music that gave us goosebumps
āœ… Learned about the history and soul of the South
We shopped (souvenirs galore — magnets and sweatshirts, naturally), laughed until we cried, and somehow managed to navigate the entire trip without any major hiccups.

So… What Was the Best Bit?

Everyone keeps asking me what my favourite moment was — and honestly, how can I pick just one?Ā Every stop had something unique to offer. But if I had to name a few:
  • Swimming with turtlesĀ in their natural habitat was a dream.
  • Mardi Gras in New Orleans — what a party!
  • Beach hopping in Florida — pure relaxation.
  • The Texan Ranch — unforgettable.
Each place brought a different vibe, a different memory, and I wouldn’t change a second of it.

Final Thoughts

This was one of the best holidays of my life Ā shared with the best work wife in the world. It was fun, chaotic, peaceful, inspiring, and just downright special.
Now, we’re already dreaming up our next adventure… so stay tuned — to be continued. āœˆļøšŸŒ“šŸ’«
