A Glorious Summer Day for Seckford Hall Weddings

Date: 20th July 2024
It’s a roasting hot day, one of those where you feel a genuine sympathy for the bridal party trying to get ready while keeping cool in the extreme heat. But what a backdrop for a wedding! Seckford Hall Weddings never disappoint, and this one was no exception.

Arriving at Seckford Hall

I absolutely love driving through the gates of Seckford Hall. This stunning Tudor country house, nestled in the Suffolk countryside just minutes from Woodbridge, is steeped in charm and history. On reading up about the venue, I discovered a quirky connection; Enid Blyton once stayed here after leaving school. It’s said the haunted room and secret passageways inspired some of her stories. A perfect touch of magic for a wedding day!

How I Met the Bride

I met the lovely Deb earlier in the year when she booked me for party makeup for a special birthday. Little did we know, that day would lead to her booking me for her wedding. In a funny twist, a minor scuffle at the party (she was caught in the crossfire; no fighting from Deb!) left her with a black eye, but her makeup held up so well that a guest commented on how flawless she still looked. A few weeks later, she got in touch to ask me to do her wedding makeup. Naturally, no black eyes this time!

Dream Team of Suppliers

Seckford Hall Weddings always bring together some of the most talented people in the industry. For Deb’s big day, I had the pleasure of working with:

It’s always such a joy when a great team comes together seamlessly to make a bride’s dream day a reality.

The Bridal Party Vibe

Deb’s bridal party included:

  • Her sister Jen
  • Cousins Lauren and Hannah
  • Jason’s sister Leanne

They were such a fun, lively group, and I had the best morning getting them glammed up. There was laughter, excitement and apparently, a bit of superstition too! The girls had buried a sausage the night before, following a wives’ tale promising good weather. Whether it was magic or just timing, the result was a glorious, sun-drenched day.

The Bride’s Look

Deb’s look was classic, elegant, and very ‘her’.
She chose a simple white dress with button details down the back, paired with a beautifully long veil she wore over her face, a romantic tradition that’s rarely seen these days but so timeless. The flowers were a soft blend of white roses, eucalyptus, and gypsophila, perfectly complementing the sage green bridesmaids’ dresses.

Makeup Details:

  • Winged eyeliner (Deb’s signature!) mapped out first with black shadow, then finished with MAC Blacktrack
  • Soft brown eye makeup using the Too Faced Born This Way Natural Nudes palette
  • NARS Light Reflecting Foundation
  • Huda Beauty Tantour for subtle contour
  • Charlotte Tilbury Dancefloor Princess lipstick an ideal match for our beauty queen

Her look was finished with delicate waves by Debbie Roast, who brings the most cheerful energy to any wedding morning.

A Perfect Day at Seckford Hall

Working on Seckford Hall Weddings is always a highlight for me, and this one was especially joyful. Seeing the day unfold, being part of the magic, and catching up with the wonderful Helen Kirkman who was a model for me years ago when I launched my first website made it all the more special.

After the final touch-ups, I headed home for a much-needed shower and cool down from the heat, feeling grateful to have been part of such a memorable celebration.
